About Us
We are a wholesale farm that specializes in producing salad greens and seed garlic.
Lazy Mule Farm was born out of a mutual love and respect for the tradition of draft farming by me, Jessica Bass and my partner, Adam McGrath.
Adam and I met on a draft powered farm on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. Among other titles, Adam was in charge of the draft horse program and I had just learned to drive a team and was hoping keep working with horses. We bonded over our love of ponies, music and swimming in the river.
Just one year later, we purchased a Belgian mule team of our own, without land and without a clear vision. We only knew that we wanted to keep working with draft animals, and so this was one sure way to commit ourselves to it.
We arrived in Wallowa County in April of 2020 and plan to carry out the dream of farming, packing and skiing our way through the foreseeable future.
“Lazy Mule”
Lazy Mule Farm is playfully named after our very own “lazy” mule, Charlie. He can often be spotted napping on the ground, whether he is out in pasture or tied at the horse trailer! He and Mae are the original team that have completely allowed us to pursue this endeavor, so we thought they needed to be part of the name.

Practices
Growing organic veggies and seed garlic in alignment with our values; upholding the tradition of draft powered farming, land stewardship and soil health.
We envision a farm that provides a happy and healthy life for us, for our animals, for our customers, and the soil that feeds us.
